The Overview of CNCS CRS office

College of Natural and Computational Sciences (CNCS) Research and Community Service Coordinating Office plays a pivotal role in supporting and promoting research, community service, technology transfer, and university-industry linkages within the college. The office collaborates with all eight departments in the college, working to enhance the quality and impact of academic research and community service activities while fostering a strong relationship with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The office’s duties span a wide array of research and community service activities, including but not limited to:

  1. Research and Proposal Management:
  • Preparing calls for research and community service proposals within the college.
  • Undertaking the prescreening and review process of proposals.
  • Organizing the public defense of reviewed and provisionally accepted proposals.
  • Critically evaluating proposal budgets and submitting them for approval.
  • Coordinating and supporting capacity-building efforts for staff and students involved in research.
  1. Conferences and Symposia:
  • Identifying thematic areas and preparing calls for papers for conferences.
  • Organizing, conducting, and facilitating conferences, workshops, symposia, and other academic events.
  • Publishing conference proceedings and supporting journal, newsletter, and bulletin publications.
  1. Community Service Coordination:
  • Developing and implementing community service strategies in alignment with university directions.
  • Coordinating community service activities across academic units.
  • Guiding and mentoring research teams in developing impactful community service projects.
  • Organizing community service proposal review processes and providing logistical support for project execution.
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
  • Monitoring the progress of research and community service activities and ensuring effective utilization of resources.
  • Preparing reports on the status of ongoing, completed, suspended, and terminated projects.
  • Collecting feedback and conducting evaluations to assess the outcomes of community service projects.
  1. University-Industry Linkages:
  • Promoting research collaborations with external institutions and industry partners.
  • Facilitating technology transfer and ensuring the university’s research outputs have a tangible impact on society.
  • Suggesting policy ideas to enhance research and community service efforts.
  1. Administrative and Operational Support:
  • Assisting with the preparation of plans and reports for the office and for other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the proper documentation of activities and outcomes.
  • Organizing workshops, training sessions, and professional development opportunities for staff and students.

Organizational Structure

The CNCS Research and Community Service Coordinating Office operates with the support of a council composed of representatives from each department in the college. This council plays a crucial role in decision-making and ensuring that the technical and strategic goals of the office are met effectively.
